Description

Factory tie rods on the Tacoma have a well-known weak point that shows up fast once you're running bigger tires and hitting real rock. ICON's Extreme Duty Tie Rod Kit is built to remedy that with stronger materials and beefier dimensions than the stock units, so the steering system can keep up with the rest of your build instead of being the thing that breaks on the trail.

The inner tie rod and ball stud are CNC machined from 4140 chromoly with a metal-on-metal bearing surface, a big step up from the plastic inner races used in the factory tie rods. Adjustment threads are 12% larger in diameter than stock for added strength. The outer tie rod is forged steel and keeps the same profile as the factory piece, so it fits within all factory Tacoma wheel diameters and offsets as well as just about any aftermarket wheel. The tie rod end itself is a metal-on-metal joint with a grease zerk for easy service, and it holds the same range of operating angle as the stock tie rod end so steering geometry and turning radius stay true to factory.

For anyone running big tires in serious rock, this kit is a smart addition alongside a broader steering system upgrade rather than a standalone fix, since the steering system works together as a set.

Fitment note: Does not fit 5-lug RWD Tacoma models, including the X-Runner.
