The OTO Built Toyota 8" V6 Differential is a complete, built-to-order third member for Toyota/Lexus 4x4s for the 8" axle housing.

Every unit is assembled in-house at Offroad Toy Outfitters using genuine Yukon Gear ring and pinion sets, and has a typical lead time of 2-3 weeks.

Why OTO Built

  • Solid Pinion Spacer Setting up a differential with a solid pinion spacer takes more time than a crush sleeve. We do it anyway. A solid spacer maintains pinion preload permanently and is not susceptible to the preload loss that can occur when a crush sleeve takes a hard impact. Every OTO build includes one, standard.
  • Yukon Triple-Drilled 29-Spline Flange Every OTO built differential includes a Yukon triple-drilled 29-spline flange covering the 60x60mm, 66x66mm, and 56x64mm bolt patterns, the three most common Toyota driveshaft configurations, so fitment is never a question.
  • ARB Air Locker Available We offer the ARB RD132 as a carrier option. Not everyone does.
  • New Yukon Housing Option We can build into a brand new Yukon nodular iron V6 dropout housing featuring upgraded nodular iron construction and a larger-than-OEM design. Fits ABS and non-ABS applications. No used core required.

Carrier / Locker Options

Spooled A Yukon spool eliminates the open carrier entirely, locking both axles together as a single solid unit. Both wheels drive together at all times. Zero traction compromise, zero mechanical complexity. Best suited for dedicated trail and crawler builds. Not recommended for street-driven vehicles or use in snow or ice.

Yukon Grizzly Locker The Yukon Grizzly Locker is a mechanical positive-locking differential engineered for rock crawling, serious trail running, off-road racing, and drag racing. It provides 100% power to both tires while still allowing disengagement while negotiating turns. The Grizzly features a forged case and 8620 internals for maximum strength, and its patented design reduces common locker failures. The inner clutch teeth have a larger radius at the base, offering up to 350% greater strength versus back-cut designs. Those larger teeth also resist breakage caused by shock-loading or catastrophic axle failure. Assembled in the USA. No air system required.

Yukon Zip Locker (Air) The Yukon Zip Locker is an air-operated selectable locker that lets you switch from an open differential to 100% lockup on demand. The forged case and 8620 internals deliver the strength needed for serious trail use, while the air-operated design means you're running an open differential on the street and fully locked when you need it. Compatible with a variety of air delivery systems. Requires a compressed air source. Compressor and plumbing can be quoted and installed separately or together.

ARB Air Locker (RD132) The ARB RD132 is a pneumatic locking differential for the Toyota 8" axle, compatible with all gear ratios and both 4-cylinder and V6 spline configurations. When activated, the Air Locker prevents the internal differential gears from rotating, preventing the axle shafts from turning independently, with both wheels tied directly to the ring gear, the vehicle maintains maximum possible traction. When unlocked, it operates like a conventional open differential. The RD132 features ARB's two-piece forged design with a reinforced elastomer-bonded seal. Covered by ARB's 5-year warranty. Requires a compressed air source. Compressor and plumbing can be quoted and installed separately or together.

Note: The ARB RD132 uses 50mm bearing journals. If your housing originally ran a 4-cylinder carrier with 45mm journals, we will confirm bearing fitment during our post-order call.


Housing / Core Options

Customer Supplied Core Drop off your existing third member and we build into it.

New Yukon V6 Housing (+$570) Yukon's V6 dropout housing features upgraded nodular iron construction and a larger-than-OEM design. Fits ABS and non-ABS applications.


Applications

This third member fits Toyota and Lexus vehicles with the 8" V6-spec solid rear axle housing. Common applications include:

  • 1986-1995 Toyota Pickup and 4Runner (V6) - rear
  • 1996-2009 Toyota 4Runner (without factory e-locker) - rear
  • 2003-2009 Lexus GX470 - rear
  • 2006-2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser (without factory e-locker) - rear
  • 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma (without factory e-locker) - rear

Does NOT fit: vehicles with the factory electric locker, the 8.75" Tacoma housing, T100, Tundra, or any stock IFS front axle.
